Meet the Artist
I am a British painter based in the heart of the Chiltern Hills. To me, the natural world is a living, shifting landscape - from the ancient forests and clear chalk streams of my local hills and valleys to the dramatic rhythms of the British coastline. Whether I am capturing the low aspect of a winter sun over a historic local landmark, the movement of a seascape, or the quiet geometry of a studio still life, every piece I paint seeks to find a distinct 'spirit of place'.
My Training and Process
My artistic path began during my fine art training at Wrexham Art College, UK and later at Louisiana State University, USA, where I first started exploring how to convey atmosphere and a sense of light. Over the years, I have built an archive of work, and my paintings and prints are held in private collections across Europe and North America.
Today, my art practice balances two distinct energies:
In the Landscape
I work plein air on location, using urgent, expressive marks and a vibrant, joyful palette to capture the energy I feel in each place and the sense of complete immersion, through fleeting outdoor light effects, particularly at the most magical golden hours of the day.
In the Studio
I refine my plein air studies in the studio and work on larger and more contemplative original oil and acrylic paintings, including contemporary still lifes and expressive animal portraits that study form and character.
Let’s Stay in Touch
